Facebook: Is it too late now to say sorry?

“We have a responsibility to protect your data, and if we can’t, then we don’t deserve to serve you,” Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post last month after announcing sweeping security changes across the platform.

In March, the The New York Times reported Cambridge Analytica, a British political consulting firm, obtained the data of 50 million Facebook users prior to its work on Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Facebook says it learned of the misuse in 2015 but failed to notify the public before last week.

Amid public backlash and tumbling stocks, is Facebook’s apology too little, too late?
