Aug. 1, 2019, marks 10 years since President and CEO Ben Johnson first came on board the New Orleans Chamber staff.
The chamber originally formed in 2004, but its aspirations were derailed by Hurricane Katrina the following year. In 2009, newly hired Johnson teamed up with Dr. Charles Teamer to launch the “new” New Orleans Chamber. Not only did Johnson establish a steady source of much-needed funding through the Chairman’s Council, he transformed the chamber’s representation by embracing diversity within its membership and board of directors.
Since 2009, the New Orleans Chamber has grown from 200 to over 1,300 members.
