The Ruby Slipper Café Takes New Orleans Flavors to Baton Rouge

by

New Orleans’ The Ruby Slipper Café opens its eighth location on Wednesday, July 26. Moving to Baton Rouge, the restaurant will feature its famous Southern dishes like eggs cochon and BBQ shrimp & grits.

Even more impressive than its cuisine, however, are the restaurant’s founders. Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt opened The Ruby Slipper Café after Hurricane Katrina. The couple was inspired by a powerful sense of homecoming when returning to New Orleans and have expanded from New Orleans to Orange Beach, AL. They remain active in the Louisiana community, helping nonprofits like Tres Doux and Baton Rouge’s McMains Children’s Developmental Center.
