I met Cokie Roberts several times, usually with her mom, Lindy Boggs, or through the Academy of the Sacred Heart.
Although mere acquaintances, I felt like I really KNEW her. She spoke to me deeply – as a woman, a reporter, a Catholic. Like Lindy, she could disagree while being respectful, and express social justice through reporting.
I last saw her in May at the National Institute of Health, where we were both patients. Even in that private setting, she graciously recounted fond memories of our families. Godspeed, Cokie. Your goodness will live on in the hearts – and actions – of many.
