Women of Note, Featured at the Mint

by The 100 Companies

“History was slow here.”

Michael Ondaatje wrote this line in reference to the birth of jazz in his seminal book “Coming Through Slaughter.” The New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint aims to uncover some of the jazz history slower to reveal itself through its new special exhibit, Women of Note, opening August 3. Lil Hardin Armstrong, Blue Lu Barker and Germaine Bazzle’s deep contributions to the jazz landscape have been underrepresented, but will be explored in depth in this illuminating exhibit.

Make sure to check out live performances at Satchmo SummerFest at New Orleans Jazz Museum August 4-6.
