Thirty-six years after René-Robert Cavelier de La Salle planted the cross of Christian faith at the mouth of the Mississippi River – claiming the Louisiana Territory for France – New Orleans was born in 1718.
On January 6, 2018, the Clarion Herald, the Catholic newspaper of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, will publish a keepsake issue: “River of Faith: 300 Years as a New Orleans Catholic Community.” I consider it our Tricentennial gift to the city!
