More connected than you think

What do the Fourth of July and Chambers of Commerce have in common? More than you might think. America’s first chamber was founded in 1768, just a few years before independence.

While July 4 celebrates the birth of a nation, chambers grew from merchant organizations that were working to strengthen local economies. Over time, those stories merged. Today, chambers across the country help organize parades, festivals and fireworks that bring communities together while also supporting local businesses.

It’s a distinctly American tradition: celebrating freedom while creating opportunity. Every Fourth of July, civic pride and economic vitality share the same stage.
