Recently, my 12-year-old granddaughter, Emily, arrived from South Carolina with three friends for a girls’ getaway at my Pass Christian beach house. They packed a summer camp’s worth of fun into just four days!
As tradition dictates, they began by measuring their heights on the wall. Mornings brought crepe-making, tandem bike rides and shopping. Tubing to Cat and Ship Islands inspired fits of laughter, while dolphin watching was magical. Swimming and water sliding were obligatory. Flounder gigging, hermit crab races, bottle rockets and outdoor showers capped the nights.
The takeaway? Pure glee, endless laughter – and anticipation of next year’s visit.
