While many of us know her work, we may not know we know it. Patricia Hardin is responsible for the magnificent invitations for many of the most elegant Mardi Gras balls in New Orleans.
So how does she create these pieces of art?
She starts by speaking with each krewe’s captain (or his wife) to get a sense of that year’s theme, whether it’s England, Old Louisiana or the sea. Then she starts working, creating intricate invitations by hand, using paint and brush. Finally, the captains approve her product and it’s taken to the printers.
The result? Mardi Gras magnificence.
