Algiers plays key role in ‘Ganking Mr. Guidry’ at Le Petit Theatre

The Company Plantation in Algiers, where enslaved Africans who had survived the Middle Passage were housed, plays a key role in the world premiere of native Harold Ellis Clark’s play, “Ganking Mr. Guidry,” presented by Le Petit Theatre, in association with HEC Communications, LLC, with support provided by Whitney Plantation and the Carol Sutton Memorial Grant.

“As an Algiers native, I’ve undoubtedly traversed some of the areas where the slaves lived,” says Clark. “I’ve woven some of that history into this play, as well as that of Free People of Color and Native Americans.”
