My “Fab Four” friends usually travel annually to big cities like Paris and Madrid, but this year we took a different route: the Galápagos Islands and Quito, Ecuador.
We “city girls” transformed into “nature girls” that would make even Eddie Bauer proud. Our adventures included close encounters with giant Galápagos tortoises, snorkeling with brilliantly colored fish, frolicking with inquisitive sea lions and hiking treacherous trails to a hidden lava pool.
Still, we indulged in Ecuadorian cuisine and artisan markets, and ended the trip with a private chef on a rooftop terrace. Whether city or nature, traveling with friends is priceless.
