Laurin Wightkin’s service often begins with something simple but powerful: listening.
“An important part of service is to listen,” Laurin shares. “To hear the pain in another’s voice and place a bit of hope there – they’re no longer facing things alone. That makes serving with IVC so rewarding.”
The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) invites men and women ages 50+ to share their talents through weekly service with nonprofit partners serving people experiencing poverty. Service Corps Members volunteer eight or 16 hours weekly and gather monthly for reflection in the Ignatian tradition.
