The 60th annual Press Club Awards on July 21 at the Jung Hotel honored excellence in the journalism industry. WWL-TV Eyewitness News was honored with 35 awards, including top awards for best use of Facebook and Twitter and first place trophies in continuing coverage, editorial writing and videography.
WWL-TV’s staff earned best use of Facebook for covering the removal of the Confederate monument, proving the importance of news being online and on-air to keep up with an ever-changing media consumption landscape. They were also recognized for work in sports, medical/health reporting and crime reporting.
