NOLA has a long history as a sailing community, but Lake Pontchartrain has seldom been accessible to the whole city.
Community Sailing New Orleans (CSNO) hopes to change that. The Municipal Yacht Harbor will be reopened in 2018, and CSNO is working to build a Community Sailing Center to eliminate the economic and physical obstacles to sailing for all of New Orleans.
Sailing is a great vehicle for empowering urban youth who may not otherwise have access to Lake Pontchartrain, as well as empowering those with physical disabilities or intellectual challenges. To learn more and to donate, visit the website.
