Explore city’s modern urban landscape – and public art – with new bike tour

by
NOLA bike tour

The guided tour takes approximately 2.5 hours. Participants must be 16 years of age or older and capable of strenuous physical activity. Maps for self-guided tours are available at The Historic New Orleans Collection, 520 Royal St.

The Historic New Orleans Collection’s Portage Bike Roll returned this month as part of the exhibition “Art of the City: Postmodern to Post-Katrina,” presented by The Helis Foundation.

This six-mile excursion (taken either with or without a guide) intertwines popular landmarks of New Orleans’ diverse communities into a single, idiosyncratic urban landscape. Stops include St. Augustine Church in Tremé, “The Wave of the World” sculpture in City Park and more.

Guided bike tours will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, May 18-June 2 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and are free, courtesy of The Helis Foundation and Blue Bikes.
