Even if you don’t encounter the eye of a hurricane, tropical storm-force winds can be serious and send debris flying and bring down power lines. At 74 mph, a hurricane becomes a Category 1 storm like Hurricane Isaac in 2012. With a Category 1 storm, power outages, flying debris and storm surge become a concern.
