After a year on the transplant list, Nick Coats passed away on March 19 of stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver. His identical twin brother, Devin, recently received a life-saving transplant and is in recovery.
As the Slidell community mourns the loss of Nick, his family hopes his short time here will serve as a call to action for others to become organ donors. With close to 115,000 people on the national waiting list for a transplant, every donor counts.
