Why National Philanthropy Day?

by The 100 Companies

National Philanthropy Day celebrates the generosity, compassion and commitment that strengthen our communities. New Orleans has always embodied this spirit, sharing meals, lending a hand and rebuilding together.

First proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986, Philanthropy Day is now celebrated internationally through local chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Each year, our AFP Philanthropy Day Premier Luncheon brings together nonprofit leaders, volunteers, corporations and community partners to honor outstanding examples of giving. These stories remind us that philanthropy is not only about wealth, but intention and empathy.

Every act, whether donations, service, mentorship or advocacy, creates lasting change.
