Did you know there are NOLA Catholic schools directly linked to Catholic saints (not the football team)?

The Academy of the Sacred Heart is part of a network of schools started in 1818 by St. Rose Philippine Duchesne.

The Sisters of the Holy Family, the order founded by New Orleans native Venerable Henriette Delille, opened St. Mary’s Academy in 1867.

St. Frances Cabrini opened an orphanage at the site of Cabrini High School in 1905.

St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School continues the vision of St. Katharine Drexel, who founded parishes and schools that served African-Americans in the early 1900s.

Dr. Emilie Gagnet Leumas, archivist, Archdiocese of New Orleans
