Hairs are made up of proteins called keratin. On humid days, the air contains more water vapor molecules, which are made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The water molecules attach themselves to the keratin proteins in hair through hydrogen bonds. Hydrogen bonds cause the hair strand to fold on itself, creating bends in the hair.
