Chalmette Refining volunteers to fight food insecurity

by The 100 Companies

Did you know that there are many school-aged children that do not have access to meals from Friday after school until Monday morning?

The Community Center of St. Bernard hopes to change that through their Backpack Program, which provides nutritious and easy-to-fix foods for children to take home every weekend. They currently feed approximately 235 students per week in both elementary and middle schools.

But the demand is even greater – with more than 500 students in need of healthy meals.

Join Chalmette Refining’s employees and family members by volunteering to fill backpacks, deliver them to schools or make a donation.
