As a volunteer buddy for the June session of Camp Benny, I worked with 9 and 10-year-old kids on the autism spectrum. The weeks flew by in bursts of water balloons, sensory crafts and lots of laughter.
Many campers would not have this experience otherwise because they need extra help that other summer camps don’t provide. I did the things I would do with my friends – played games, watched videos, ran outside – just with more patience and breaks if a camper got overwhelmed. Camp Benny was a great experience. It felt like everything good all in one place.
