It takes about three hours to sort 1,600 pounds of Mardi Gras beads – that’s what more than 20 Jefferson Financial Federal Credit Union employees and their family members learned when they generously gave up a Saturday morning to volunteer at ArcGNO earlier this month.
In the days following Mardi Gras, the credit union collected more than a ton of beads for the facility, which provides employment for the intellectually disabled in the New Orleans area, and felt it was only fitting to further their efforts by helping sort thousands of beads in preparation for resale to area krewes.
