Satchmo SummerFest takes place August 4-6 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint. The three-day event celebrates the life, legacy and music of Louis Armstrong with music on three stages, fascinating lectures, and food from New Orleans restaurants.
Satchmo SummerFest also showcases New Orleans’ indigenous traditions, like Sunday morning Jazz Mass at St. Augustine Church; a second line parade; and traditional jazz dance lessons.
Other special events include a kickoff party at the Omni Royal Orleans and a Trumpet Tribute at the festival’s close. A $5 admission helps support local musicians and pay for the event.
