Behind the scenes of the Alton Challenge Competition

Last week, local restaurateur Gavin Jobe won “Alton’s Challenge” with a Chilean sea bass, pasta and homemade ice cream.

Jobe is the executive chef and co-owner of Meribo, and his success on the national level highlights the growing trend in cuisine. More and more, media are searching for small town chefs and restaurants with true creativity. Gone are the days when only the most famous chefs are featured on TV and in magazines, as exemplified by the popularity of blogs like TASTE and Country Roads.

Jobe appears in the final round of “Alton’s Challenge Grand Finale” on November 7.
