Weather in 2017

by

We finished 2017 with a December that was close to normal in terms of temperature and rainfall. However 2017 was active for Louisiana overall. We experienced six tornadoes in February, including the E-F3 in New Orleans East, which was the first of that strength for Orleans Parish.

Then there were the tropical landfalls of Cindy, Harvey and Nate. Fortunately there was little damage from Hurricane Nate.

We finished the year with snowfall across the area with as much as seven inches north of Lake Pontchartrain. Looking ahead to January and 2018, we can expect near normal temperatures and rainfall.
