How it’s made: Boas

When a feather boa flies off a float during a parade, everyone’s hands automatically go up. But, do you know how these feathery delights are made?

At Plush Appeal – The Mardi Gras Spot, the boas are made from turkey feathers from the U.S. Once the feathers are bleached or dyed, they’re glued or stitched into lengths known as “ply.” The more ply, the fluffier and thicker the boa is.
