New Orleans is a passionate sports town, and for two decades I had the best job in it. As The Times-Picayune’s lead sports columnist, I witnessed some of the greatest sporting events in New Orleans history.
I saw Gleason block the punt, Brees break the record, refs botch the call and the Saints win it all. I covered LSU’s national championships in football and baseball.
And amazingly, I got paid to do it. It was a privilege to have served the readers of this great city and an honor to have worked alongside so many smart, talented, dedicated journalists.
