by

If you’re a local, you’re familiar with the public, working studio that holds some of Carnival’s magic. Within the walls of Mardi Gras World lies an operating workshop comprising the heart-stopping floats of many international fêtes, including Mardi Gras.

How did our grand factory come to be? After apprenticing his way through Europe during the 1950s, my father was endlessly inspired by the extravagance that marked European styles of float building. He had to bring this level of lavish ornamentation to Mardi Gras. Before long, he became the city’s leading parade builder, working with all the legendary krewes.
