How did a dead 8-foot alligator end up in Demo Diva’s dumpster in Uptown days after Hurricane Ida?
While local residents were tarping roofs, social media went aswirl with pictures of the swamp creature wrapped in a blue tarp with its black tail hanging over the side of the pink dumpster.
Not only did the pictures draw a crowd, but “Dumpstergator” was launched and became a yearlong New Orleans celebration.
The mystery is not the dead alligator. The mystery is how New Orleanians always manage to turn stress into a party, a show, a display of resilience.
