The New Orleans Steamboat Company christened the riverboat City of New Orleans, running mate to iconic steamboat Natchez, followed by a reception and cruise. Third-generation steam boater Matt Dow, director of marine operations, led the ceremony.
Cheers erupted on all four decks as retired employee Edna James shattered champagne on the bow. “Miss Edna” was matriarch of food & beverage for 40 years. In keeping with the tradition of generational riverboat captains, the City of New Orleans’ captain is Skyler Nicoulin, nephew of Steven M. Nicoulin and grandson of Steven P. Nicoulin, current and former master captains of the Steamboat Natchez .
