NOBA and Dance Theatre of Harlem revive ‘Dougla’

by

NOBA welcomes Dance Theatre of Harlem as the company brings a milestone program to New Orleans. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, DTH continues its legacy of breaking boundaries and transforming lives through ballet.

This year, the company brings a beautiful program of new works and treasured classics that highlight its rich history and honor trailblazing founder Arthur Mitchell.

The restaging of the 1974 ballet, “Dougla,” will colorfully depict the pageantry of a Trinidadian wedding ceremony. The expanded “Dougla” cast will feature four artists from NOBA’s Center for Dance, a youth development program that provides over 5,000 tuition-free activities annually.

Dance Theatre of Harlem tickets start at $35 and are available online.
