On Oct. 27, we said goodbye to someone who felt like family to us all – Eric Paulsen, our friend, colleague and a beloved part of New Orleans. For over 40 years, he greeted us every morning, bringing warmth, humor and a deep love for this city. Saying farewell isn’t easy, but in true Eric fashion, he somehow made it a little easier with his unforgettable spirit and kindness.
Eric had a rare gift – he could make you feel deeply, whether through laughter, a shared smile or even a bit of frustration. He was more than a broadcaster; he was a friend to his viewers, a fixture in New Orleans homes and a symbol of resilience and joy. His unwavering love for New Orleans and its people was at the heart of his work, and it touched everyone who tuned in each day.
As we honor his legacy, let us remember the joy and connection he brought to our lives, and may we carry forward his love for this city that he served so well. As long as there’s a WWL, his legacy will remain a part of our lives and hearts.
