In less than a month, the Krewe of Bacchus celebrates its 50th anniversary. But the parade that changed so much in Carnival isn’t just looking back. It’s also thinking big, with two new floats.
The Bacchaneer will be a four-section pirate ship with special effects and lighting. The other will feature King Kong, Queen Kong and Baby Kong, who have been icons in Bacchus since the 1970s. Redesigned Kong figures will be featured on the new float.
Bacchus rolls Feb. 11, with WWL-TV presenting exclusive coverage from the Morial Convention Center at the Rendezvous after the parade.
