If you missed “Making New Orleans Home: A Tricentennial Symposium,” presented by the 2018 New Orleans Tricentennial Commission, you can still explore some of the topics with help from The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) and its exhibition and companion catalog, “New Orleans, the Founding Era.”
At the symposium, Daniel Usner of Vanderbilt University discussed the Native American populations that inhabited the lower Mississippi River valley; he contributed an essay on the topic to the catalog.
D. Ryan Gray, UNO professor of anthropology, will revisit New Orleans archaeology in a complimentary lecture Tuesday, March 20, at THNOC, 533 Royal St.
