Chalmette Refining is once again a proud sponsor of the Algiers Mardi Gras Festival, which begins Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. with the community parade, starting at L.B. Landry Avenue and Lamarque Street and ending at the festival grounds in Federal City. The parade will feature local school bands, walking clubs and dancing and culture groups.
This year’s musical entertainment (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) features the U.S. Marine Reserve Jazz Band, Edna Karr H.S. Voices of Pride, Chiara Nicole, Stephanie Jordan, The Topcats, Mia Borders, Amanda Shaw and The Brass-A-Holics.
There’s also a poster competition.
