“The reason that I am here is because I want to think big for small people. The kids are our future, all of them, young and old,” shares Jayme Johnson, a parent and Geaux Far Steering Committee member.
In Johnson’s community, childcare is scarce, with the nearest childcare center 45 miles away – making her town a childcare desert. Johnson recognizes the Geaux Far Coalition as an organization emphasizing awareness of childcare and its impact on families, caregivers and childcare providers.
Accessible childcare is vital for the lives and development of children, and for parents to successfully engage in the workforce.
