A tradition I began last year for my 11-year-old twin grandsons, Collin and William, was “spend, save, share.” My Christmas gift to them is money with the direction to spend some on themselves, save some and, finally, share with something they choose.
This summer, they pooled their “share” fund – even adding to it – to support Crossing Paths Animal Rescue, an organization that takes dogs from kill shelters to loving homes. They bought toys and treats, and even spent time with them during the adoption event.
“It was lots of fun and felt really good,” they reported.
