Faith that endures

by The 100 Companies

When Hurricane Katrina hit, nine Ursuline Sisters and several neighbors sheltered for seven days on Ursuline Academy’s campus before evacuating by boat – it was the first and only time since 1727 that the Sisters were not present in New Orleans.

Their resilience, faith and unity echoed the spirit of our foundresses. When they returned months later, so did our community. Katrina reaffirmed what makes Ursuline Academy strong: deep roots, enduring faith and a commitment to serve.

Our motto, Serviam, gained new meaning in the wake of Hurricane Katrina– and it continues to shape every student who walks our campus today.
