Twenty years ago, Hurricane Katrina tested every fiber of Boys Town Louisiana’s mission. Before the storm struck, staff refused to abandon the foster youth in their care. A caravan of 35 children, 18 staff and 12 staff kids traveled nearly 90 hours across the South before finding safety at Boys Town’s national campus in Omaha, Nebraska. There, Louisiana children attended school and thrived in temporary Family Homes while staff rebuilt lives and programs.
Though Family Homes in New Orleans were damaged, Boys Town’s commitment never wavered. That same resilience still drives our mission today. Learn how you can help here.
