Two years ago, my alma mater announced that it was closing. Due to a relentless alumnae campaign to save Sweet Briar, the all women’s college just named its 13th president, Meredith Woo.
As liberal arts graduates, we are skilled in analyzing, questioning, interpreting, planning, communicating and implementing. And by layering those proficiencies with the double X chromosome, we have the perfect arsenal to fight for what we believe.
Steve Jobs embraced the liberal arts, attributing Apple’s success to being a place where “technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities … yields us the results that makes our heart sing.”
