On the historic campus of Nunez Community College in Chalmette, Louisiana, an aging methanol plant used for the instruction of students pursuing process technology degrees just got a much needed face-lift.
This pint sized “refinery” gives students hands-on experience and training that simulates what it’s like to work at real-world petrochemical or manufacturing plants. The decades-old facility was improved and upgraded with the help of Chalmette Refining, ControlWorks, Magnetrol, Tech-Quip and Brown & Root, so students can continue to learn how to use the same types of equipment that they will encounter in their future jobs at refineries or manufacturing plants.
