Steve Gleason played safety for the New Orleans Saints, famously blocking the punt in the historical game when the Saints returned to the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. In recent years, Gleason’s determination in the face of his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis has been even more inspirational. For those unfamiliar, ALS affects nerves in the brain and spinal cord.
In honor of Gleason, Option Care Health provides Radicava. According to ALS News Today, it’s the first new treatment in 22 years for ALS and has been found to slow the decline of physical ability in ALS patients by a third.
