Oscar Wilde’s trivial comedy for serious people brings laugh to the Le Petit stage this month

Rounding out the 2023-24 season at Le Petit Theatre is “The Importance of Being Earnest.” A.J. Allegra takes the helm as director for this satirical glimpse of the upper class. Pandemonium breaks out when the fictitious “Ernest” is involved – bringing mistaken identities, secret engagements and lovers’ entanglements.

“Oscar Wilde’s witty language and characters are every bit as sharp and funny today,” states Allegra. “I couldn’t think of a finer way to enjoy a summer afternoon or evening in New Orleans.”

“The Importance of Being Earnest” at Le Petit Theatre runs from June 6-23. Tickets are available at lepetittheatre.com.
