Join the Historic New Orleans Collection, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and OperaCréole for a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience at the long-awaited world premiere of Edmond Dédé’s “Morgiane” (1887). This historic composition remains the earliest known surviving full-length opera written by a Black American composer and has remained a hidden gem for over a century yet to be heard – until now.
This year’s Musical Louisiana Concert will take place Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Louis Cathedral with a pre-concert panel discussion at 5 p.m. in HNOC’s Williams Research Center. The concert is free and seating is limited.
