As the decade closes, I reflect on two profound losses. Leslie Marsh passed away after a 13-year cancer battle. Her death was personal as we were diagnosed about the same time, Leslie with breast cancer and me with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Mark LeBlanc’s death came without warning. A lifelong friend, Mark’s soul was the water.
Fr. Anthony McGinn suggests three things to remember with death. First, console the family. Second, thank the deceased for touching your life. And, finally, identify a single trait that you want to remember.
For me, Leslie’s unstoppable courage and Mark’s loving friendship remain in my heart.
