What is 211?

Need emergency dental care you can’t afford? The nearest open food pantry? Or the nearest shelter during a storm and whether or not you can bring your dog? This is when you dial 211.

211 is a health and human services hotline that is available nationwide through a network of over 250 nonprofit agencies and most operate 24/7. In the Greater New Orleans area, VIA LINK has been the provider for 23 years.

It is a free call. Not federally funded, it relies on donations and grants. Last year over 80,000 people in this area called VIA LINK 211 for assistance.
