On Tuesday, April 17, over 500 New Orleanians gathered to celebrate their shared history at the Tricentennial Interfaith Prayer Service. Christian churches and other faith traditions including Jewish, Muslim and Ba’hai participated in the evening of prayer, song and fellowship.
In his homily, Archbishop Gregory Aymond said, “Sometimes people are quick to point out the differences that exist in a community, and yes, we gather this evening acknowledging our diversity, our differences, but more importantly, my sisters and brothers, we come together this evening to celebrate our unity. There can be unity in diversity, and that is what we celebrate.”
