To celebrate National Philanthropy Month, Greater New Orleans Foundation presented its annual Spark Plug Award to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which is guided by the belief that all children should have an equal opportunity to thrive. Working with communities so vulnerable children can realize their full potential, WKK has invested over $100 million to the Greater New Orleans area since Hurricane Katrina.
When accepting the award, WKK President and CEO La June Montgomery Tabron cited Martin Luther King: “Philanthropy is commendable, but it must not cause the philanthropist to overlook the circumstances of economic injustice, which make philanthropy necessary.”
