Growing pains and pleasures

by The 100 Companies

For years, I was encouraged to open my own PR firm. Timing was a consideration: post Katrina, post cancer and a recession. Cancer teaches you to “just do it,” so Gambel Communications was born.

I started at home; a month later I had four employees. We needed a real office. Our Metairie Road location was perfect. Until it wasn’t. At one point we had 12 people in 1,000 square feet. The next move was Ridgelake, tripling our space. I always knew I could do the PR but had to grow into the role of business/property owner.

I‘ve never looked back.
